About Us

First Memories Early Learning Centre is a family owned service that strives to support children to build skills for lifelong learning. We aim to provide children with an environment of care that extends from the home. Our qualified educators offer nurturing and caring interactions with children that assists them in building a sense of belonging and security.

Our Colyton centre is  a brand new,  purpose built facility with a class-leading fit-out. It has been designed to provide children with a learning environment that promotes opportunities for exploration, investigation, imagination and early learning.

We cater for children aged from 6 weeks to 6 years. Our opening hours are from 7:00am – 6:00pm, 5 days per week and we are open 52 weeks of the year (except for Public holidays).

Our Curriculum

At First Memories Early Learning Centre we use and engage with the Early Years Learning Framework. This is nationally recognised framework that provides principles, practices and outcomes to support and enhance children’s learning.

Children are born to explore and learn, with each child developing at their own pace. Our educators incorporate experiences that challenge children at a developmentally appropriate level, that facilitates each child’s growth and development. Our curriculum is flexible and individually tailored to each child. It is stimulating for children and promotes children’s social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical development.

We offer Play based learning that allows children to discover, negotiate, take risks, create meaning and solve problems. These skills are the vital foundations for developing literacy, numeracy and social skills as well as the transition to school.

Our Environment

At First memories, the physical environment surrounding the children is a major provider of opportunities and possibilities that is vital to their development. It is as important to the care and education of the children as it is to the staff.Each learning environment includes a range of developmental appropriate resources that challenges children’s thinking to enhance their abilities.

These environments enrich children’s awareness of their surroundings as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability.Today’s children represent the future generation and it is our responsibility as educators to assist children in realising the significance of caring for and protecting our environment. This responsibility is also reflected in the National Quality Standards that we contribute to a sustainable future.

Embedding these practices into our curriculum and everyday learning is imperative to enable children to practice this knowledge and learning to ensure it becomes a lifelong skill for a better future.

Our Educators

We recognise the development of children is directly tied to the quality and development of the staff who work with the children. Our staff have a genuine respect for children, desire and ability to teach children and are fully committed to our educational philosophy.

We believe that facilitating and implementing the best approach in early learning is fundamental to the building of relationships with all children in our care. We support children’s abilities to successfully manage their emotions and enhance the development of their self-esteem through encouragement, participation in our curriculum and interaction with their peers. We implement this knowledge by ensuring educators take advantage of opportunities to interact with children in ways that deliberately extend children’s learning.

Our educators and teachers are qualified in early childhood education and have considerable experience and knowledge of early learning. They strive to create a safe and nurturing environment for your child, where they can play, explore, learn and develop friendships.
